60s retro cool is all the rage these days - and you too can decorate your home flower power style, with many online resources offering inspiration for colour schemes and furniture of the sixties. One of our favorite sites is retrorenovation.com, which has some great scans from interior design catalogues of the time, color palletes and a directory on where to source period furniture. Some of the interiors look absolutely awful, but there are a lot of gems hidden on this site. You can browse old photos by category and period, for example 1960s kitchens.

The number of new housing projects being started in Spain is down 43% compared to the previous 12 months, with 72,491 new houses started. Before the economic crisis, Spain was constructing 300-400 thousand new houses a year to replace old houses and cope with demand for new houses, so this is quite a bit under that figure. It seems the new build market it still contracting, which is good news in the long term as it means that supply is adjusting to meet demand, as there is currently a large oversupply of new houses in Spain. As this happens, it will mean more new builds will start to happen, but at a more sensible rate, creating a more stable, balanced housing market.

A recent quality of life study by uSwitch has voted Spain the second best country in Europe to live in, with the UK coming last.
Spain has the highest number of hours of sunshine a year and the highest number of days holiday a year (43!). Other factors taken into account were net household income after taxes, average retirement age, average working hours per week, health spending as % of GDP and education spending as % of GDP, amongst others.
Spain also has the cheapest alcohol prices of the ten countries in the index. The UK has the highest food prices, the highest fuel costs. It would seem than in the UK, people live to work, whereas in Spain, people work to live.
So, if you want to flee the UK and buy Spanish Property, nobody will blame you!. Alternatively, you could just escape for a weekend to one of these Barcelona rental apartments
