About Windmill House
A Neo -Rural house with a Tuscan air, surrounded by an idyllic landscape, enjoying views of the Medes islands and the Montgrí mountains in the Costa Brava. Set in approximately seven acres of land there are beautiful gardens dotted with fruit trees and ornamental species, fields separated by rows of trees, meadows dappled with bright spring flowers and iron sculptures, created by the owner and strategically located. There are two streams that cross the land. If one looks up from a small rise in the ground or from the first floor of the house, there are views of the Medes Islands against a blue background and the Montgrí hills in the other directotion. This is a landscape that will never be spoiled, as the property borders the natural park of Montgrí, the Medes islands and the delta of the river Ter. Known as the Moli de Pals or “Pals Windmill”, thanks to the windmill that generates electricity on the property, the house was built in 2005 on the same site of an old house in ruins by the architect and surveyor Toni Josep Dalmau Bonvehí. The constructed area is 820 m2, of which the house occupies 600m2 and the rest, outbuildings such as a garage, agricultural warehouse and pergolas.
The style is Neo Rural, with a Tuscan air thanks to the sienna exterior walls and the landscaping that surrounds the building. The main building has two pavilions with large windows and a beautiful porch offering summer dining and overlooking a babbling fountain from Provence. Around the main entrance are pots of flowers, painted azulete, contrasting with the sienna walls. There is a fully fenced area around the large swimming pool, which has its own bathroom.
The ground floor consists of a large open space lobby leading to a warm and cozy lounge, elegantly decorated like the rest of the house. A modern gas fireplace built into the wall creates warmth on the coldest days. The living room opens to a beautiful glass hall that connects to the kitchen, dining room and a sitting area. From there you can enjoy beautiful views of the garden and the wilderness that surrounds it. The kitchen, large and functional, combines steel appliances with the warmth of wood. There is another glass hall which is perfect as a play space for kids during bad weather.. Finally on the the ground floor, master bedroom with dressing room and bathroom featuring jacuzzi.
The second floor houses a peaceful, private sanctuary : a large library filled with books and decorated objects, like old typewriters, cash registers and cameras. There are two additional double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. At the top of both, a loft for sleeping children supervised by their parents.

About Pals
Pals is a small medieval town in the northern part of Spain in the region of Catalonia, a few kilometers from the sea. With a total of 2,698 inhabitants, it has a very rich cultural inheritance and can be defined as a typical, charming, lovely and peaceful corner of Costa Brava to visit or to stay at.
The Historic center of the village is located on a hill, surrounded by plains with a medieval romanesque tower that was buil between the 11th and 13th century. Known as the Torre de la Horas (the Tower of Hours) it used as a belltower. Also this 15-metre high tower stands on a natural rock platform in which many Visigothic tombs can be found.
The castle, which has been part of Pals since the 9th century, is another important attraction of this small town. It is now occupied by the house of the Pi i Figueras family, promoters of the restoration of the Gothic neighborhood. You can easily recognize Pals overall architecture through its cobbled streets interrupted by semicircular arches, façades with pointed arched windows and stone balconies.
Not only is Pals a beautiful town with many landmarks that will take you back to the Middle Age, it is also a great place to get to know the history of Catalan wines and cavas thanks to the permanent exhibition it has on display. There are many other interesting things to see in Pals such as the Josep Pla viewpoint, the Plaza Mayor, the tombs in the Calle Mayor and the church of Sant Pere, along with gothic arches and medieval tombs are the other landmarks you find on the way. Some of the stone blocks from the castle were used in the 10th century to build the church of Sant Pere. In its final structure you can make out the Romanesque base, the Gothic apse and nave and the Baroque portico and belltower. Finnaly don't miss thefour square towers, named Ramonet, Rom, Xinel·lo and Hospital, that still remain standing today, although they date from the 12th century.
While staying in Pals you can pproach the traditional cuisine of Baix Empordà, which brings together products from land and sea. Broad beans and peas from the fields appear together with "esqueixadas" (cod salad) "escalivadas" (cold roast aubergine, onion and peppers) and chicken or rabbit stews with seafood. For their part, prawns, sea bass and gilt-head bream are prepared in numerous ways. Among the desserts, fruit is very important, you can find many of them such as strawberries, peaches, melons, water melons, oranges, etc. In the summer these are turned into delicious ice-creams and sorbets.
