Why Building a Custom Home is Better than Buying a New, Existing Home

Many people automatically assume that engaging a custom home builder to build their home is going to be much more expensive than buying a newly built home in a new development.

They very well could be wrong.

Many custom home designs can be quite affordable and actually may cost the same as buying a new home in a development (or just slightly more).

Here are some more reasons to build your own home:

First of all, you'll be getting a home built to your requirements, not those of the developers. You'll be able to design the floor plan in a way that fits your family's needs and lifestyle.

You'll also be able to leave room to add on, should you need it. Most existing homes are located in developments that have only just so much room for each house. Adding on a family room, office, or even master bedroom could prove difficult for the very simple reason that you have no room! But a custom-built home easily can be designed with "room to grow."

In fact, you can plan ahead now and build now. It's much less expensive to add on today than it is to renovate tomorrow.

In addition, engaging a custom home builder to build your dream home means that you'll have the exact number of bedrooms and bathrooms that you need. What's more, you'll be able to design those all-important bathrooms in the size you deem is right.

Are you an entertainer? You can design your home for entertaining. With an existing home you'll have to make do with what you're given.

If you're a cook, you know how small and inefficient the kitchens in pre-existing homes can be. With a custom built home you can create the kitchen you've always wanted, building one with all the amenities you feel are important.

There's little more satisfying than "giving birth" to your own home. Everything in your home will be there because you chose it. From the layout, to the amenities -- all of it is you. There's quite a bit of satisfaction in being able to say "Thank you, I made it myself (with the help of my builder, of course)!"
